Here’s what we look at during our 20‑point garage door inspections:
- All nuts and bolts are tight
- Tracks are clean, free of debris, and not bent
- Rollers are not old and worn, cracked, or damaged
- Springs are free of debris and spring tension is correct
- End bearing and end plates are aligned and bearings are not old or worn
- Struts are bolted to the door properly
- Check cables and drums to ensure there is no splintering
- Check to ensure proper door balance
- The opener is operating properly and safely
- Reverse and pressure sensors are operating up to code
- Belt or chain tension is adjusted properly
- Safety sensors are aligned properly and free of debris
- Sensor wires are properly wired and tied out of the way
- Top of opener is free of dust or debris
- Chain and belt are properly lubricated
- Belt is not dry rotted or broken
- Chain is not rusted or broken
- Inspect wall button and remotes
